01

Platform operations

The intake reply within two business days, the intake questionnaire, routing the claim to the steward panel, and the operating costs of running the platform. Nothing in the fee purchases the credential itself — a claimant pays for adjudication, not for an outcome.

02

Steward review honoraria

Each steward is paid per claim on a fixed cadence, regardless of outcome. Stewards do not work for the claimant, the employer, or any downstream verifier — the fee pays their time, not their verdict. Unsuccessful claims do not produce a credential.

03

Written audit trail storage

Every state change — submission, panel convened, revisions, approval, decline, minting, contest, revocation — is recorded with date and reason in the registry. The trail is what makes the credential independently verifiable and tamper-evident while protected evidence remains private; the public record verifies status, provenance, decision state, and integrity without exposing protected evidence.

04

Never the credential itself

Proofworks is paid to record the work — independently verifiable and tamper-evident on the public ledger while protected evidence remains private; the public record verifies status, provenance, decision state, and integrity without exposing protected evidence. There is no per-issuance fee, no surcharge for a favorable credential, and no refund on a declined claim by virtue of being declined. The credential is the audit, not a product.

The mission-aligned promise

Record the process, not the person.

The submission fee funds independent claim review; it does not purchase approval or a credential.

How review actually runs

Two-step steward review, in plain English.

Step 1 is the panel's reading of the evidence on its own signal. Step 2 is the audit log capturing every decision with date, reason, and the stewards behind it. Step 2 is what makes the credential contestable later.

Read the reviewer-independence & contest governance record
  1. Step 01

    Independent panel review

General Stewards approve or reject; Specialists may request revisions when the Specialist route is used. Every decision is recorded in the audit history.

Stewards are paid whether the claim is approved or declined.

  2. Step 02

    Audit-trail recording

Every state change in the pipeline — submission received, panel convened, decline, revision request, approval, minting — is filed in the audit log with date and reason. A credential is only as good as the record under it.

Auditable from issuance until any contest or revocation.

Where each claim lands

Two AND-states. The audit log records which one.

Approved

Minted into the public ledger.

The claim becomes a numbered Degree of Proof. The claimant is emailed the credential ID; anyone resolving /verify/[id] sees holder, capability, track, status, and the originating claim — no login required.

/verify/<id>
Rejected

Auditable + carry forward.

The audit log records why. The claimant sees the steward note and can carry the claim forward at /resubmit/[id] with new evidence — the prior decision stays on the trail, the receipt stands.

/resubmit/<id>

What is expected

Evidence the steward panel weighs on its own signal.

The credential is a record that the panel weighed the right artifacts. Each track uses evidence that matches the capability being claimed.

How review actually runs

Trades · conventional evidence

  • Work orders and contracts with the claimant identified as the operator
  • Employer or school statements or letters, on letterhead, addressed to Proofworks
  • Recorded test runs and inspection slips (e.g. weld coupons, electrical inspections)
  • Expert affidavits from a credentialed practitioner

How review actually runs

Oddities · signal-led evidence

  • Uncut footage or photographs with timestamps and context for the claimant's role
  • Field recordings, spectrograms, or process shots that exhibit the capability on its own
  • Affidavits from a domain expert who can explain the capability in plain terms
  • Test-rig, calibration, or third-party test records where applicable

Typical timeframe

Review is asynchronous and may take days.

General Stewards approve or reject; Specialists may request revisions when the Specialist route is used. Every decision is recorded in the audit history.

5 day working norm · strong signal, not hard.

  1. 01Intake to queue≤ 2 business days
  2. 02Panel review3–7 days
  3. 03Revisions round trip1–3 days
  4. 04Minting after approval≤ 1 business day

Receipt matched · pre-checkout disclosure

$50 funds independent claim review; it does not purchase approval or a credential. Before payment, this claim is a private, editable Draft: it is not submitted or in the permanent ledger and can be permanently deleted. Payment creates the permanent Submitted record, timestamp, and Steward routing.

Stripe collects the fee before any review.

The first artifact is the claim. Bring one.

Start the Trades intake and the steward panel will see your claim.

One short form, one or more pieces of evidence, one Stripe receipt. The submission sits in a held state until the receipt confirms — only then does it enter the queue.
