Two tracks
Pick the evidence gate

Two tracks. Same audit trail.

Proofworks runs two credential tracks side by side: Trades for capabilities that map to conventional evidence, and Oddities for rare or unconventional work where the proof stands on its own signal. Each track mints the same numbered, portable Degree of Proof — only the evidence threshold differs.

Awaiting first proof

Both tracks are live. No Degree of Proof has been minted in either track yet — submissions are open and a fresh credential is recorded the moment the steward panel approves the first claim.

Track 01 · Conventional evidence

Trades

For capabilities that map to conventional evidence.

Trades validates capabilities with conventional, contemporaneous evidence — work orders, employer statements, recorded test runs, certifications from independent schools. The proof is founded on what is widely accepted, and the credential is the audit trail of the decision.

For capabilities that map to conventional evidence.

A structured professional capability the holder can evidence through recorded work, signed documents, or independent third-party verification.

Where Trades fits

  • Welding to AWS D1.1 — work orders, weld coupons, slow-motion bend test footage
  • Residential electrical to NEC 2023 — signed permits, meter-base photos, inspection slips
  • HVAC service — recorded diagnostic runs, employer statements, training certificates
  • Glasswork — studio photographs, client letters, gallery or publication references

Degree of Proof No. 0001 · minted on first approval

No Degree of Proof has been minted in Trades yet.

What counts as evidence

Photographs, video, signed work orders, third-party test reports, and written statements from credentialed practitioners — anything a steward panel can open and weigh on its own signal.

Track 02 · Signal, not curriculum

Oddities

For rare or unconventional capabilities.

Oddities evaluates capabilities that have no fixed curriculum — unusual physical skills, rare analytical talents, hard-to-verify craftsmanship. The proof stands on its own signal — independent Stewards review the evidence, and panel consensus determines the outcome.

For rare or unconventional capabilities.

A rare, unconventional, or signal-driven capability where the proof sits in the artifact itself and the steward panel weighs it on its own terms.

Where Oddities fits

  • Bird identification by sound — unedited field recordings with the claimant naming species as they sing
  • Dialect coaching for film and stage — before-and-after monologue recordings with a director's note
  • Rare instrument repair — work-order photography, customer affidavits, workshop log entries
  • Signal classification (RF, audio, water) — annotated spectrograms, recordings, and process notes

No credential minted yet in Oddities

No Degree of Proof has been minted in Oddities yet.

What counts as evidence

Uncut recordings or photographs, affidavits from a domain expert who can describe the capability in plain terms, and any artifact a steward panel can open without a script — the proof lives in the work, not in paperwork.

Not sure which track?

Choosing the right track.

If your capability maps to a conventional evidence threshold — recorded work, signed documents, third-party verification — use Trades. If the proof sits in the artifact itself and there is no fixed curriculum, use Oddities. Both tracks mint the same Degree of Proof.
